i think you have achieved a lot for the page style. unless there is a great web artist doing real designs, one can hardly come out on top without that part in place.
i think you scored big time on style integration under a main theme: blue and organge. regardless if the two goes together well, at least you got it under control.
it is easier said than done. when i set up my own web sites N years ago, i barely put much efforts there. the only time i did a design was for a commercial site. anyway i would recommend two types of web references for you, you may be inspired after browsing around those sites:
1) the real elegant web sites are the top art galleries in SOHO/Chelseas
check out their web sites and you will find they barely use any color. the art is in the lay out. and then the functionalities, and then the user's behavior pattern and psychological logics....
2) if you want different challenge, the real good web sites, art galleries not accounted, are not in USA corporate world. go check out the european sites especially the one done bu german and italians. those places produce real web artists...technically those sites could be a pile of poopoos, but they do look good, and i mean damn good!
so to wrap up, either to do it in the least number of theme color tones, and only change the gray tones, or to integrate the bright colors in good system, which only the well trained top web artists typically could do (many of them had both CS background and art trainings)
