Ensures break-even financial performance, on average, of assigned GTS site. Proactively seeks new customer relationships and develops them in a manner which benefits all of Jabil. Ensure compliance with GTS strategies and initiatives, and develops proposals for improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment and Retention:
q Recruit, interview, and hire the engineering staff.
q Coach Project Engineers in the interviewing/hiring process.
q Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.

Employee and Team Development:
q Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
q Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility.
q Create and manage succession plans for Engineering and Management functions.

Performance Management:
q Perform Engineer evaluations professionally and on time.
q Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.
q Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility.

Communication:
q Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the department.
q Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
q Ask questions; encourage input from team members.
q Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.

FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Strategy and Direction:
q Develop proposals for improvements to existing GTS strategies and initiatives, as well as proposals for new ones.
q Provide feedback on success of existing initiatives.
q Ensure site participation in core competency improvement initiatives.
q Ensure operational standardization through the use of standard GTS tools and systems. These include, but are not limited to:
q GTS quote management software and responsiveness requirements.
q Project tracking tools (action items, journals, time entry, milestones, and deliverables checklists).
q Design reviews.
q Documentation package templates (quotes, testplans, test specification, tester validation, etc…).
q GTS hotline.
q Manufacturing plant project report

Cost Management:
q Ensure break-even financial performance, on average, of assigned GTS site.
q Preparation of financial forecasts and statements will be required
q Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
q Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.



Customer Relationship Management:
q Develop existing customer relationships so Jabil’s manufacturing business and GTS both benefit
q Proactively seek new customer relationships. Sales presentations will be required.
q Develops corrective actions for customer relationship issues not resolved by engineers working directly on test developments. Customers may be internal or external.
q Domestic and international travel may be required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required; and five years in Test Engineering; two years in management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Electronics Hardware (RF, Networking, Optical Networking, Servers, Desktops, Notebooks, Power Supplies, DSP). Knowledge of Computer Software (Assembly, C, LabWindows/CVI, LabView, Database).

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to work effectively under pressure with constantly changing priorities and deadlines. Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift up to 15 lbs. Be accessible to production floor and office staff and to use required office equipment. Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Individual’s primary workstation is located in the office area, where the noise level is low. Team member may frequently be present on the manufacturing floor where the noise level is low to moderate.
