Standard Job Title: Director of Sales - China
Location: Beijing, China
Division: Microsoft Learning

Do you like big business challenges? Do you want to join a high-performance team? Are you a strong thought and people leader? If so, we're looking for someone to help build the Microsoft Learning business and coordinate efforts with other government and academic training initiatives in China? Responsibilities include planning, driving joint sales, coordination with marketing and execution with key channel partners. There is significant opportunity to develop a stronger partner ecosystem within this country which will help strengthen Microsoft’s success in any or all business segments: Courseware, Microsoft Press, and Certification. This person will provide leadership and hands-on skills to build and restructure the partner channel and thereby building an infrastructure that enables sales development and reach for Microsoft Learning Products.

Primary Job Functions:
1. Drive and oversee delivery of MSL's business strategies and product delivery in China, including courseware, certification, the academic channel, reference books, and government programs.
2. Collaborate with MSL leadership team in Redmond to set and drive revenue opportunities, reach goals and product strategies.
3. Manage relationships with customers, stakeholders, and partners. Oversee the development of vendor/partner ecosystem in China.
4. Resolve account management issues and ensure adequate infrastructure and process to maintain a high level of customer and partner satisfaction while delivering on quota-based goals.
5. Facilitate cross-team, cross-group, cross-org, and external communications and integrated product planning.
6. Set fiscal year goals, FY budget and plans by product stream, and team members’ performance goals.
7. Considerable and consistent communication internally (to MS) and external interaction with government officials at national, provincial, and local levels to drive cooperation and successful program and product adoption.
8. Participate and drive with management team across MSL to create, communicate, and execute business strategy in China.
9. Regular interaction with vendors to assess progress against goals and fine tune processes.

Role in Business Process:
1. Select and manage local partners for execution of product and sales plans.
2. Manage a China-based team responsible for strategy and revenue plans in coordination with Redmond-based Microsoft Learning.
3. Oversee the management of 3-5 major vendor relationships and 12-15 smaller and limited vendor relationships and key partners.
4. Budgeting and ongoing forecasting of revenue across all MSL product lines in China.
5. Work to establish best practices and revenue opportunities that can be driven across Greater China (Hong Kong & Taiwan).

Key Competencies:
1. Ability to make strong recommendations and influence change; drive for results; think strategically and operationally; work successfully across groups;
2. Experience with doing business in China;
3. Strong Chinese language skills preferred;
4. Knowledge of training industry and contacts;
5. Knowledge of product planning or product management preferred;
6. Analytical and strategic thinking; collaboration; negotiation; communication, business development;
7. Successful track record in managing revenue attainment.

Qualifications
Minimum 5 - 8 years of related experience
Bachelor’s Degree required
Master’s Degree preferred
