Web 2.0 SIG (previously Semantic Web)
Please note: We will have two Web 2.0 events in January --- January 5th and January 13th. Thank you!
Topic: Investing in Clouds over the Pacific
Cloud computing has started to transform how we develop and use applications. Silicon Valley is leading the way with pioneers like Salesforce and Google. Venture money are pouring into new startups in the valley like crazy recently. On the other side of the Pacific, China has determined that cloud computing offers the unique opportunity for China to innovate and make big impact. Government and private investments are being orchestrated to fuel the ambition. This SDForum event assembles a panel of VCs and industry analysts to dissect where the money have been invested in the cloud computing space and where startups ought to look going forward on both sides of the Pacific.
If you see the "cloud" not clear enough, please come to join us and ask your questions.
Topics include:
-Why dose Gigaom.com say "Cloud Startup Values Are Getting Insane"?
-What are the funding prospects for the different areas under the "cloud"? SaaS, PaaS, IaaS or whatever.
-Where have VCs invested in recently?
-Are there winning business models for each layer of the cloud stack?
-How will cloud computing accelerate the development of web intelligence and semantic web?
-What is China doing right to lure both VCs and startups from Silicon Valley?
-Where are the funding opportunities for startups in China?
-Where should entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley spend their time in making new things in or for the cloud?
Confirmed Panelists:
-Jack Jia, GSR Ventures
-Jeff Richards, GGV Capital
-Vivek Mehra, August Capital
