You watched an interesting video at YouTube, liked it, but not sure you completely understood it. Well, copy the URL of that video clip , download it by https://keepvid.com/, and transcribe what you’ve heard. Other users can watch it, give you feedback, or offer their transcript to the same video. Then you will know exactly what’s being said in the video.
Transcribing something is an excellent way to improve your listening comprehension. It does a magic to your ears. Try one and you will see what I mean. And you won’t be guilty anymore for spending too much time at YouTube. Let us know how you like it and what we can improve further.
We firmly believe that transcribing a video clip is an excellent way to improve one's listening comprehension. That's why we added YouTube video feature a few years ago. Since then, one of our users, Sting, quickly became a top contributor. He submitted many YouTube clips and did a wonderful job in transcribing them. It turned out Sting is a leader of a fascinating group in China of the dedicated English learners. He started the group last year to take advantage of YouTube's rich video offerings, and its members have since grown to over 200 from all over the world.
Each day they select one YouTube clip and assign it as the homework. Using QQ, a popular IM tool in Asia, they help one other to transcribe the video clips. So far, they have done over 300 transcriptions. Apparently, they have a lot of fun for doing it. And learning too.
If anyone wants to join Sting's study group and eager to take on his homework, feel free to contact him. His QQ GROUP IS 32149507 OR 16725034.HIS WEBSITE IS https://www.youtubeqq.com/bbs
以上英语文字摘自某国外知名媒体对斯汀学习方法及其网站的介绍
Thirty seconds, that is all the time it takes to toast a parptart, wash your hands, download an average computer file. And thirty seconds is all the time it can take for a two-ton car to start sinking. How fast will depend on the circumstances of the crash, the weight of the car and how your vehicle hits the water. How your crash will also affect your escape strategy. Water is about one thousand times denser than air. As you sink, water will press on the door from the outside harder than the air on the inside, making it nearly impossible to open the door. Even if you manage to open the window, the powerful onslaught of water could push you away, or even pin you underneath the dash board, making it difficult to escape. So if you want to keep your motor running and survive. Here is how!
If you are about to crash, brace yourself for the impact. Place both hands on opposite sides of your head making an X with your arms. Grab the shoulder belt with your outside hand, this will protect your head and neck. Once you hit the water, and the car is sinking slowly. You have time for SOSGO.
If it is still an option, always escape through front-side window first. You might have up to ten minutes before the car electrical system shorts out (短路). But be aware of salt water, which is highly corrosive and will infiltrate the system more quickly than fresh. If the water has not enclosed on you yet, pop your seat belt and swim to safety. But if the car is sinking fast and water rises above the window line, SOSGO will not work, as your escape will be blocked by a powerful rush of water. Do not unbuckle your seat belt yet, as it holds you in place. It is time for a new plan.
As the car fills, the pressure on the inside and the outside will eventually equalize. So you have to wait it out. Once the water reaches your shoulders, try to open the door and escape. But if the door has been damaged in the crash and will not budge, you need to break out!!!!!!!
Windshield is made of laminated glass and harder to shatter. Instead, break out the side or rear window which is smaller and made from a easier-to-break tempered glass, or use a shatter-device like a hammer which can be kept in your glove compartment (仪表盘上的小柜子). After you break the window, the rush of water will be hard to swim through. Wait for the water to fill the rest of the vehicle. In the meantime, if there is an air pocket, use it. The average person can hold their breath for about 60 seconds. To increase your chances, take several deep fast breaths which will treat your body into holding its breath longer. Now swim for your life. If the car turned upside down during its descent, you may be disoriented follow your bubbles upward until you break the surface. That is it. You survived. If you find yourself inside a sinking car, do not go down in a watery grave. Remember these easy steps to escape
