Responsibilities:
• Lead development efforts, coordinate with Data and Data Infrastructure teams as well as Product Manager groups to design and develop big data solutions, and to ensure quality and a positive user experience for all delivered solutions
• Work with engineers, managers, Product Managers, QE, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic schedules, and adhere to development goals and principles.
• This position will make significant architectural decisions and also work with other teams on high performance/high availability distributed systems.
• Technical lead for large, complex analytic platform projects. Develop strategic and tactical implementation plans considering key business objectives and resource constraints
• Participate in requirement meetings with eBay end-users to clarify requirements. Understand eBay''s unstructured data sets. Assist in documenting requirements, resolving ambiguities and conflicts, and gather consensus.
• Estimate engineering effort, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and help rollout system changes. Help define, and supervise the design and implementation of complex, multi-tier distributed software applications.
• Identify process, technology challenges and deficiencies that need to be addressed and drive those changes to successful adoption.
• Mentor, grow and empower team members in design, coding techniques and time management
• Proactively identify and resolve resource conflicts and set priorities for parallel projects. Work closely with Product Manager on resource and project reprioritization and subsequent impacts. Communicate these impacts effectively.
• Identify project risks and be able to provide alternatives yielding reduced risk
Job Requirements
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent).
• 8+ years’ work experience in software development area with at least 5+ years’ experience in Java programming, 2+ years' management experience.
• Passionate about data
• Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Experience on building analytics from unstructured data on Hadoop platform is prefer.
• Solid DB skills, data mining expertise are preferred.
• Familiarity with search/recommendation/classification applications and domains preferred.
• Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus in a high velocity, high quality environment.
• Strong communication skills in Oral and Written English.
• Working Experience in Multi-national Company is a plus.
• Strong personal networking skills with the ability to relate to executives and employees through all organizational levels.
