1968年3月30日，Celine Dion出生在加拿大魁北克省的一个音乐之家，这是一个大家庭，兄弟姐妹一共有14个之多，Celine是最小的。在5岁的时候，Celine就充分展露了她的音乐才华。12岁时，Celine制作了她的第一张示范专辑Ce n'etait qu'un reve(It was only a dream)，同时她的才华得到了魁北克名经纪人Rene的支持。在Rene抵挡了他的住宅后，Celine出版了她的第一张专辑。之后她就在加拿大和法国取得了不错的战绩。
由于出生在法语区，在Rene的建议下，Celine去了蒙特利尔的一个学校学习英语，经过几个月的不懈努力，Celine基本掌握了英语。与此同时，她也与Sony公司签约，出版了第一张英文专辑Unison(调和)。之后Celine一发不可收拾，在Sony的旗帜下，先后出版了14张专辑，获得了无数的荣誉。
93年Dion与Peabo Bryson在电影《Beauty And Beasts》(美女与野兽)中演唱的歌曲获得了葛莱美奖。94年在影片《西雅图的不眠之夜》中又与Clive Grittin 联袂合作了一曲《When I Fell in Love》(当我坠入爱河)，这使她再度获得了多项殊荣。她的第一首单曲《The Power of Love》(爱之伟力)一经推出，立即成为Billboard 排行榜上的榜首歌曲。在新专辑《The Colour of My Love》(我爱的色彩)中，Celine Dion使乐迷们欣赏到了不借助现代电子技术合成而仅仅是天赋歌喉的美妙绝伦。
1997年随着电影《泰坦尼克号》的奇迹，由Celine Dion演唱的主题曲《My Heart Will Go On》获得了第41届格莱美年度最佳唱片奖(Record Of The Year)，Celine Dion也凭借这首歌获得了最佳流行音乐女歌手奖(Best Female Pop Vocal Performance)。
1998年，Celine在奥斯卡金像奖颁奖典礼上现场献唱My Heart Will Go On。
1998年，Billboard音乐奖颁奖典礼在拉斯维加斯举行，Celine成为最大赢家之一。
1999年，12月31日出席蒙特利尔千禧音乐会，之后暂别歌坛。
2001年，Celine于1月25日喜得贵子。
2002年3月25日，发表第8张英文专辑A New Day Has Come，重返歌坛。
